Common Misconceptions About Breast Pumps:
Many breastfeeding mothers follow trends and buy popular breast pumps, only to find they are not suitable for themselves! The problem actually lies in the flange—most on the market come in a standard size, just like shoe sizes, but breast sizes vary from person to person. A one-size-fits-all approach simply cannot accommodate all mothers, and blindly following trends can easily lead to disappointment
Hazards of Using Incorrect Flange Dimensions:
1. Clogged milk ducts, reduced milk supply
Choosing the wrong flange size can cause milk blockage, and if the milk is not fully extracted during pumping, it can lead to milk blockage and backflow.
2. Red, swollen, and cracked nipples
If the flange is too large, it can easily cause nipple and areola edema. If the flange is too small, the nipple repeatedly rubs against the inner wall, which can easily lead to nipple pain and cracking.
Correct Use of a Breast Pump:
The stronger the suction of the breast pump, the better! Adjust from the lowest setting upwards, and if you feel pain, lower it by one level. This is your maximum comfortable negative pressure~ Don't force yourself to pump through the pain, as it can easily cause breast edema!
⚠️ Important Notes: 1. Before buying or renting a breast pump, be sure to accurately measure the size of your nipples
2. The measurement should be based on the size after pumping milk.
3. If the sizes on both sides are not the same but the difference is not significant, use the larger size as the standard. If the difference is too large, you can buy two different sizes of horn covers.
